A little about us

About

Velvet Feels started with a simple frustration: women's media that was either fear-mongering or trying to sell something. We wanted a third option. Considered, honest, and actually useful.

The Velvet Feels Journal

Fewer things,
written better.

Evidence first

Health and beauty writing is full of claims nobody can back up. We check the research before we publish. If something is uncertain, we say so. If something is contested, we show both sides.

No commercial pressure

We don't do paid placements or native advertising. If a brand is mentioned, it's because a writer thought it was worth it. Our editorial standards are published and public.

Slower, on purpose

We're not racing to publish fifty things a week. Five things worth reading is better. The site is designed for reading, not for clicks. We think that distinction still matters.

The journal

Five sections. One standard.

Skincare

Skincare

Routines, ingredients, reviews. The science, explained clearly.

Wellness

Wellness

Women's health, hormones, sleep, gut health. The full picture.

Beauty

Beauty

Makeup, hair, fragrance, nails. Tested before recommended.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle

Home, travel, slow living, relationships. Not aspirational fiction.

Recipes

Recipes

For weeknights, not photo shoots. Good food, written simply.

The contributors

The people behind the bylines

Eight writers, eight different angles. A cosmetic chemist. A women's health specialist. A parenting editor who writes it as it actually is. A slow living writer who is, most likely, drinking tea right now.

How we work

What we won't do

We don't publish sponsored content. We don't let brands approve articles before publication. We don't run affiliate links without disclosing them clearly. We don't quote experts we haven't verified.

If health content is reviewed by a clinician, we name them. If research is cited, the source is named. If something is opinion, it's framed as opinion.
